These days, there is no walking in the forest because of the hunting-season. So instead, I look at photos and imagine being there. I hope I’ll never outgrow the ability to get instantly happy, just by shuffling through fallen leaves in winter boots. What joy to realize that the whole garden is covered in them! This afternoon, I spotted the descending sun through the herbal mini-forest in the kitchen window. How pretty. How pretty is this? It’s almost freezing outside, but the mini-apples in the garden are still tanning. Soon, they will live in the cool darkness under the stairs, where they will wait to become winter apple-pies. Red currant from the garden, a bit of water and some sugar. And now I have one and a half bottle of homemade red currant cordial in my cupboard. The first of many more to come. A small piece of nature’s colourful art, outside the neighbour’s house. Autumn is good for the soul.
A blue-ish blanket for baby-Bastian. Hopefully he (as in his parents) will like the finished result. The whole quilt-thing is new to me – but it’s strangely addictive. Especially when the autumn sun shines through the kitchen window. |
