The mood in the forest a few days ago. Cold, clear and with a fantastic fragrance. Father-in-law went fishing yesterday and gave the catch to us. So this is a closeup of a 1,4 kilo-gädda (pike) ready to be served for dinner in the weekend. I got the honour of cleaning the beast this morning. Lucky me :/ Yesterday I passed a tree that made me think it shed paper-leaves. The ground was covered in them. They were green on one side (like any other “normal” leaf), and white, almost blue-ish on the back. I like it when nature surprises me with something I’ve never seen before – like leaves of paper. When sharing my life with a Swedish man, I get to enjoy the beautiful results of his cooking skills (and they are always fantastic). And since Christmas is coming closer, his latest kitchen endeavors resulted in the beauty: classic gravad salmon, a must-have on the Swedish Christmas-table. It tastes absolutely wonderful. When I woke up this morning, the snow was falling, and so far, it hasn’t stopped. I don’t think the ground is cold enough for the snow to pile up and not melt… but at least it’s started falling now. I tried to document the mood in the garden, but it’s a bit tricky to [...] Joy and happiness! Today, the very first round of snow of the winter has fallen from the sky. What a great feeling to know that this is only the beginning! Everything looks amazingly pretty, all covered in a thin layer of white crispy snow – the leftover parsley in the garden is barely visible between [...] This is what I am working on right now: a baby blanket made of all my little scraps of soft coloured seersucker. I am hand quilting this one too. And I have a feeling it will be quite pretty, the finished result…! |
