Big Fish for dinner

Big Fish for dinnerFather-in-law went fishing yesterday and gave the catch to us. So this is a closeup of a 1,4 kilo-gädda (pike) ready to be served for dinner in the weekend. I got the honour of cleaning the beast this morning. Lucky me :/

The tree that shed leaves of paper

Leaves of paperYesterday I passed a tree that made me think it shed paper-leaves. The ground was covered in them. They were green on one side (like any other “normal” leaf), and white, almost blue-ish on the back. I like it when nature surprises me with something I’ve never seen before – like leaves of paper.

Boyfriend’s gravad salmon

Gravad salmonWhen sharing my life with a Swedish man, I get to enjoy the beautiful results of his cooking skills (and they are always fantastic). And since Christmas is coming closer, his latest kitchen endeavors resulted in the beauty: classic gravad salmon, a must-have on the Swedish Christmas-table. It tastes absolutely wonderful.

Snowfall for a day

Snowfall for a dayWhen I woke up this morning, the snow was falling, and so far, it hasn’t stopped. I don’t think the ground is cold enough for the snow to pile up and not melt… but at least it’s started falling now. I tried to document the mood in the garden, but it’s a bit tricky to get it “right”. So just trust me when I say it’s pretty.

The first snowfall

Snow-parsleyJoy and happiness! Today, the very first round of snow of the winter has fallen from the sky. What a great feeling to know that this is only the beginning! Everything looks amazingly pretty, all covered in a thin layer of white crispy snow – the leftover parsley in the garden is barely visible between fallen leaves and snow.

Soft coloured baby blanket

Soft coloured baby blanketThis is what I am working on right now: a baby blanket made of all my little scraps of soft coloured seersucker. I am hand quilting this one too. And I have a feeling it will be quite pretty, the finished result…!

A courtyard from the past

CourtyardAnother picture form yesterday: an inner courtyard full of atmosphere, red wood and a few late-season flowers. It really is like a left-over place from old times.

Falu-red colour match

Red coorporationToday, I was in the “big city” and took lots of pictures of the old Swedish woodwork. This tree seems to match the classic Falu-red of the house. High-level colour-coorporation.

Red currant jelly

Red currant jellyToday’s production in the kitchen: 4 small glasses of red currant jelly. Am quite proud of the fact that the consistency actually *is* like jelly – all wobbly and see through – and it’s my very first batch!

The perfect end-of-the-week-treat

Chocolate treatMy idea of a superb way to celebrate a Sunday evening: fudgy chocolate/coffee cake served with vanilla ice cream. Match this with rain, candles and a movie. I shall not complain.
